Esther Ramirez - designer of Essimar papel - makes funky installations, jewellery, cards and animal sculptures with colourful paper. What I love the most is her use of fluorescent colours, especially the pink, pink, pink. Just have to love pink. She sells her creations on the etsy site.

Akram Khan on a 'Vertical Road'

I'm thrilled to be seeing yet another choreography by Akram Khan. From the 6th to the 9th October at Sadlers Wells in London, Khan will be showing his latest performance 'Vertical Road'. Closely inspired from Sufi tradition and the persian poet and philosopher Rumi, he takes us on a road between the earthly and the spiritual.

'I died from minerality and became vegetable;
And from vegetativeness I died and became animal.
I died from animality and became man.
Then why fear disappearance through death?
Next time I shall die
Bringing forth wings and feathers like angels;
After that, soaring higher than angels -
What you cannot imagine,

Where is Trisha Brown?

I was hoping to see a performance by the Trisha Brown company this fall but it appears to be impossible. Unless, of course, I were to go to New York or Lyon this month. However appealing that may sound, it's not part of the plan.
The Whitney museum on East 75th Street in New York has invited the company to take part in the exhibition called "Off the wall" from the 30th September until the 3rd October. Seven of Brown's earlier works from the 1970s will be performed: Walking on the wall, Man walking down the side of the building, Falling Duet I, Leaning Duets I and II, Spanish Dance, Floor of the Forest.
The Contemporary Art Museum of Lyon in collaboration with the Dance Biennale of Lyon will also be focusing on Trisha Brown's early works, which will be performed from 10th to the 15th September. In addition to these, the museum is organising an exhibition of Trisha Brown's visual art work (drawings, displays, videos) from the 11th September to the 31st December.
